The Local Weekend

It's the weekend again. You know what that means, a ton of shows to choose from.

If you aren't going to either of The Black shows (Kids or Keys) Friday, there are plenty of other options. A few shows are pulling back-to-back nights, starting in DC Friday and landing in Philly on Saturday. Back in September, Local H was on tour with a set full of B-Sides and unreleased music. Now with a new album just released, they are back in the area supported by Lions from Austin. Local act in DC is CTC and Twelve-Twenty in Philly.

5/16: DC @ Rock & Roll Hotel
5/17: Philly @ The Khyber

Local H - Toxic

Looking for bouncy pop? Then check out Los Campesinos! At the DC show, they are joined by The Aquarium and Pash.

5/17: Philly @ Johnny Brendas

Los Campesinos! - We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives

Finally at the bigger venues, there is DeVotchka with the folkish stylings of Basia Bulat.

5/17: Philly @ TLA

Basia Bulat - In The Night

For the one city shows, there are plenty, mostly in the DC area.

The Alphabetical Order in Philly

Tonight at The Fire is one of DC's The Alphabetical Order. I've never seen them, but I met Gavin at IA's Anniversary show and he is a quality individual. So check them out, give them some love, and let them know you heard it from us.

Thursday Night In DC

There are a lot of good shows tonight. This has been a pretty crazy day and I'm running behind, so I'm just going to list them...

Two if by Sea - Summer Borne For Sleep
The Alphabetical Order - Submarines
Paul Michel - The Ways and Means

Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard is playing two sold out shows at 9:30 Club. He will be joined by David Bazan of Pedro the Lion and Johnathan Rice.

New York bands Meowskers and Quintus play a show at The Red and The Black.

Castanets - Three Days Four Nights
Phosphorescent - I Am A Full Grown Man (I Will Lay In the Grass All Day)

A Big Monday

There is a lot going on for a Monday. There are several shows occurring tonight that are worth noting.

Peter Bjorn and John come to the 9:30 Club along with Fujiya & Miyagi and Au Revoir Simone. This is sure to be a pop showcase packed with your favorite hipsters.

Peter Bjorn and John- Objects Of My Affection
Fujiya & Miyagi - Photocopier
Au Revoir Simone - Fallen Snow

For those of you who are in the mood to be sort of mellow tonight, IOTA has the show for you. Locals Kitty Hawk take the stage along with The Last Town Chorus and Baltimore's Private Eleanor, who will be celebrating their CD release.

Kitty Hawk- Silence Won't Work On Me No More
The Last Town Chorus - Modern Love (Bowie Cover)
Private Eleanor - On Getting There

Last and certainly not least, is a show for those that prefer your music cranked up and a little on the experimental side. DC9 has the great Summerbirds in the Cellar joined by local favorites The Alphabetical Order. This should be a great show.
