A Restless Slim

If you’re like me, you frantically search YouTube for your favorite artists singing your favorite songs live. When you happen to stumble upon an honest-to-god music video, it’s just an added bonus. So, here is your daily added bonus and you didn’t even have to search for it. Langhorne Slim’s new video for “Restless” incorporates all the good things that should be associated with his rough folk/americana sound, namely dogs, chopping wood, and riding illegally in the back of a pick up truck, playing an old guitar. Check it out, see where he is playing regionally and feel free to download the single below.

10/09: Capitol Theatre, York, PA
10/13: Black Cat, Washington, DC

Langhorne Slim

When I first saw Langhorne Slim two years ago, playing in the student union of my tiny Pennsylvania college, I was completely blown away. With the rest of his rowdy, expressive band (Paul Defiglia, Malachi DeLorenzo), Langhorne filled the entire room with his own brand of driven folk. An extra kudos goes to Defiglia who put on an impressive upright bass performance.

Langhorne Slim plays music with every ounce of himself. This is the kind of small stage jam band that should lead the rest of the Americana pack. Langhorne’s new, self titled album hits stores this week and he will be in the area both this week and in early June.

4/29: Recher Theater, Towson, MD
5/01: IOTA Club & Café, Arlington, VA
6/05: West Mt. Vernon Park, Baltimore, MD *Free*
6/06: World Live Café, Philadelphia, PA

Check out the video of him on The Late Show playing "Restless" and enjoy the mp3 for "Rebel Side of Heaven."

IA Area Weekend

Your team out of the tournament? Got a little cabin fever? Luckily, there are plenty of good shows rolling through the region this weekend, most doing double duty in Baltimore/DC and Philly.

After spending the better part of this decade living in Austin, the must-see show for me this weekend is Ghostland Observatory. Unfortunately, they are only hitting DC, but you can see them Saurday night at the 9:30 Club. Hopefully, they will hit Philly soon.

Ghostland Observatory - Robotique Majestique

The Raveonettes are working extra hard. After doing a show in Philly Thursday night, they pull two shows on Friday in different cities and cap it off in the District on Saturday. They are on tour with Black Acid and local friends Thrushes join the bill in Baltimore.

3/28: Baltimore @ Ottobar w/ Thrushes
3/29: DC @ Black Cat

The Raveonettes - Dead Sound
Thrushes - Heartbeats

Two tours of reinvented 90s indie cross in the night along I-95, swapping cities. Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks with John Vanderslice in tow switch it up with the return of The Eels.
