The Return of British Sea Power

With a flurry in the past year of EPs and a full-length, Do You Like Rock Music?, British Sea Power is what is right with Brit-pop. But before you say to yourself, 'Oh, one of those bands', they are not afraid to go a little experimental (see "All In It" or "Elizabeth and Mary Meet The Pelican"). Getting high praise from the press for their previous work, The Decline of British Sea Power, namely The Sunday Times naming them "the best band in Britain", BSP are set to dominate the American indie scene once again.

Their live shows are a sight to behold as well. You can catch them in the area this week with North Carolina husband-wife duo, The Rosebuds. Prepare to be thrown back to the 80s, lead singer Ivan Howard sounds extremely similar to George Michael and their music would have been found on American Top 40 on Sunday afternoons with Casey Kasem.

British Sea Power

From Brighton, UK, British Sea Power, who have earned comparisons to Joy Division, invade the area this week. The are known to have wild stage shows. Joining them on tour is Stardeath and White Dwarfs, from Oklahoma. They are led by Dennis Coyne. Name sound familiar? You may have heard of his more famous uncle, Wayne, and there is a definite Flaming Lips influence. Our pals from Baltimore, Two if By Sea, join them for the DC show. They will be going hiatus for the rest of the year, so this is your last chance to see them for awhile.
