A Mid-October Week In The Baltimore Region

The weeks continue to fly by and we are now in the middle of October. Live music continues to flow through the region and there are several shows worth checking out this week.

The week starts with a bang on Tuesday, as Art Brut, The Spinto Band and Tokyo Police Club bring the noise to Black Cat.

Wednesday has Eagles of Death Metal at Chameleon Club. Ben Kweller finally joins us for a date at 9:30 Club. Frank Black plays Sonar. If you miss him, he will be at 9:30 Club on Sunday.

On Thursday, Wilco comes to 9:30 Club. Matt Nathanson and Carbon Leaf come to Ram's Head Live. Can't make it, but want to? They play 9:30 Club on Friday.

TV On The Radio and Grizzly Bear make some noise at Sonar on Friday. You read all about them last week, so check out Faster Faster Harder Harder at Fletcher's and see them in their comfort zone. Mouth Curved Moonlike, Molotov Valentine and Elise Major join them for the show. Amos Lee brings his great songwriting to Recher Theatre. He will also be at 9:30 Club on Saturday.

Last and certainly not least, is my pick for show of the week. Chameleon Club has Sparta, Sound Team and As Tall As Lions on Saturday night. Get there if you can, it will be worth the $10.

I'll be back next week with a ridiculous slate of shows. If I missed anything, comment away.

The Spinto Band - Trust vs. Mistrust
Tokyo Police Club - Nature of the Experiment
Eagles of Death Metal - Speaking In Tounges
Frank Black - Elijah
Ben Kweller - Penny On The Train Track
Matt Nathanson - Bulletproof Weekends

Just saw Art Brut last night at the Black Cat. Ace. Spinto Band gave me a kazoo after I complained about not getting one before. Love those boys.

I'd have to disagree with your pick for "show of the week"...it's definitely Thursday, Oct 19 at The Talking Head: Wailing Sounds, Evolve, and The Dirty Marmaduke Flute Squad. The Flute Squad is like a white trash version of PFunk...just enough intellect in the lyrics to remain relevant and enough sophmoric humor to remain irreverent to everything else.

I'm sent TV On The Radio an e-mail asking if I could tape their show at Sonar on Friday...if they allow me, I'm going based on your inclusion of them.
