Thursday in the Region
The weekend is almost here, but don't let Friday's classes or work schedule keep you from going out tonight. Plenty of bands to see, so get out there.
It's Feet Night for the Baltimore Round Robin Tour at the Starlight Ballroom in Philly. How does this work? Pretty simple, you the fan are in the middle of a circle, surrounded by all the bands. One plays a song then moves on to the next and so on. If you experienced last nights Eyes Night, you know what you are in for. Completely different lineup for tonight's show, featuring Dan Deacon, The Death Set, Future Islands and many more.
mp3: Dan Deacon - The Crystal Cat
mp3: The Death Set - Collision (Epochs Remix)
Not only playing tonight at the Talking Head, but also hitting DC's The Red & The Black and Philly's Manhattan Room Friday and Saturday is Starfucker. Also at the Thursday show is Steve Hefter & Friends of Friends and Jason Dove.
mp3: Starfucker - Isabella of Castille
mp3: Steve Hefter & Friends of Friends - Why a Lawyer
mp3: Jason Dove - End of the Year
Israeli garage-punk. Just that phrase draws a blank stare from me. It exists in the form of Monotonix. By the looks of the live performance photos, it is one hell of a party. They are joined by DC's Imperial China.
mp3: Imperial China - There Is No Translation
Local singer-songwriters Paul Michel and Carol Bui join forces for a great show of DC talent at the Black Cat.
mp3: Paul Michel - Quiet State of Panic
mp3: Carol Bui - Quan Am
The Winter Sounds have a new EP available. You can catch them at The Fire with Finding Fiction and The Antlers, who are set to release a currently unnamed album sometime this year.
mp3: The Winter Sounds - Windy City Nights
mp3: The Antlers - Two
Arbouretem is playing the Metro Gallery with The Why Because.
mp3: Arbouretum - Underneath the Arches
And don't forget about Joseph Arthur and The Secret Machines.
