Chicks Who Rock, Well, They Rock

If there's one thing we all can agree on, I'm guessing it's the fact that chicks that rock kick major ass. Sure, there's something engaging about ladies who dabble in delicious bubblegum pop, but for my money, give me Sleater-Kinney, early PJ Harvey or Joan Jett any day. (Unless we're talking Lykke Li, but that's an entirely different debate.)

Taking her place at the big girls' table is DC's own, Mikal Evans. She dropped her debut EP, A Jailhouse… A Kingdom, on the Gypsy Eyes label on June 10. Evans' sound incorporates gritty guitars and a pounding beat, peppered with her powerhouse vocals. She comes across a bit angry, but what good rock 'n roller doesn't? All in all, a good time to be had by all.
