There's a Nessie Joke Here Somewhere
So how does one come up with the ingredients for chamber-pop group Loch Lomond on their Paper the Walls (buy)?
Start with a healthy base of DeVotchka, sprinkle in some Arcade Fire, add a pinch of Broken Social Scene and garnish with Sufjan Stevens.
What isn't to enjoy about indie chamber tunes? You've got your swelling instruments, interesting vocals and ethereal feel to things. With the symphonic feel created by these alternating six to nine musicians, you get a bit of everything, from your traditional acoustic guitars and drums to mandolin, theremin and saw. And who doesn't appreciate a good saw?
Loch Lomond is touring this spring, though current dates are scheduled only for the West Coast. Perhaps we'll get some love shortly.
