Harrisburg Plays DC

Every time I see Harrisburg, PA/ Washington, DC transplants Raise up Roof Beams, my feet and chin move in motion with the melodies and various stringed instruments… not to mention the accordion and various children’s horns they tend to pull out, mid-set. All this is aside from the inimitably written lyrics centering on a conservative, religious, military upbringing, and the writings of multiple philosophers and essayists.

“When I think about the reasons I wrote certain lyrics starting out, it is pretty embarrassing,” says lead singer, Nathan Robinson. “Disdain for the past is a pretty pervasive feeling for songwriters, though, so I don’t feel unique in that. We want to reach as many people as possible with our music and continue to do that in positive and relational ways. Music is such a unifying and gratifying thing, and it’s beautiful to see how it affects people.”

The band has a couple of dates coming up and you can check them out as follows:

2/14: DC9
3/13: The Red and The Black
