The Weekend in Philly

Since I am heading down to DC this weekend for the Jukebox the Ghost CD release show, I'll let you in on what is going on around the City of Brotherly Love.

Friday night, a huge local show is at Northstar featuring the not-so-psychedlic psychedelic rock of The Cobbs and one of my picks for the best of Philly 2007, Papertrigger. They are joined by Jotto and The Greyhounds. This is one of the best line-ups of local bands you will ever see. Go check this out!

The Cobbs - Say You Never Knew Me
Papertrigger - Fox Hunting
Jotto - Backyard Circus
The Greyhounds - No Slogans in '76

Much to choose from on Saturday. My pick is Creeping Weeds at The Khyber. Over at Tritone is The Shondes from Brooklyn. Punk sensibilities over tightly crafted music, this should be an enjoyable show. If you like your music with a little more national appeal, Super Furry Animals and Holy Fuck hit the Starlight Ballroom.

Creeping Weeds - (I'm a) Donkey for Your Love (BOAT cover)
The Shondes - Let's Go
Super Furry Animals - Run Away
Holy Fuck - The Pulse

Finally, on Sunday, head over to the World Cafe for some food, then stick around for Chambersburg's The Shackeltons. I hear their show is worth the price of admission. They are joined by Skeletonbreath and Arizona.

The Shackeltons - Your Movement
Arizona - Some Kind of Chill

There you have. If I don't see you at the Black Cat Saturday, enjoy the weekend!
