The Week in Austin: Pre-Weekend

It is time once again to assess the scene in the ATX. Lots to see and hear this week. Starting off early, much like last week, this time on Tuesday at Emo's with an indoor/outdoor 6 band extravaganza! Outside we find Sparta, Austin based SOUND Team, and Lola Ray, all supporting new albums, while in the cool inside is Viva Voce, Silversun Pickups, and The Kingdom. Down the street at Stubb's, we have the newly revamped Alice in Chains, with Hurt in support. (It just ain't the same without Layne)

SOUND Team

Wednesday, head on over to The Chain Drive. Yeah, it's a gay bar, but it's no cover, cheap drinks and some good local acts frequent there. This time its Ghost of the Russian Empire and The Late Fees, who describe themselves as 'doo-wop punk'. Should be interesting.

Thursday is now part of the weekend, right? Seems like it here. Emo's is the absolute place to be as Bobby Bare, Jr. and Austin's Grand Champeen rock the inside, while outside Pompeii and Mellowdrone join one of my favorite locals and the most innovative sound and energetic stage show I have heard and seen in a long time, Ghostland Observatory. If you don't make it into there, check out Mohawk for Bello Ragazzo, Sir, and She (C'mon, be more inventive with the names)

There is just too much to cover in one post again. The weekend is absolutley crazy, stay tuned for the next installment. Enjoy the tunage.

Sparta - While Oceana Sleeps
SOUND Team - No More Birthdays
Lola Ray - What It Feels Like
Viva Voce - We Do Not Fuck Around

Ghost of the Russian Empire - August 1914
Bobby Bare, Jr. - The Heart Bionic
Grand Champeen - Raul Vela
