A Solid September Week In The Baltimore Region
This is not the kind of week that has the big shows that make you say wow. With that said, this is a solid week that has a wide variety of understated shows worth checking out. If you want spectacles, go to Austin or wait for Virgin Festival to hit town next week.

On Tuesday evening, local buzz band Page France hit The Ottobar with In Ink Please. Wow, that sounds weird saying local buzz band and not talking about Austin. If you are feeling nostalgic, Wednesday night has Andy Rourke of The Smiths DJing at Mosaic.

The week kicks in to gear on Thursday evening. Grace Potter and The Nocturnals take the stage at the 8x10 Club. Sonar has a show featuring San Francisco's The Plus Ones along with locals Avec, Karmella's Game and The Frauds. One of the most intriguing shows of the week takes place at The Recher in Towson. The Easy Star All-Stars bring their Radiodread tour to town. If you aren't familiar with this, check out the sample below. They covered OK Computer in its entirety.

Friday brings a rather eccentric show to Fletcher's that features the unique sounds of Balkan Beat Box and Golem. Sonar has an indie rock show featuring San Francisco band Scissors For Lefty, New Jersey's New London Fire and local band Faster Faster Harder Harder.

Lovers of singer songwriters will enjoy Saturday night at Rams Head Live. They have a show featuring Evan Bliss and Will Hill. Syracuse band Ra Ra Riot make their way to the small confines of The Talking Head. For all of you Hons outs there, HampdenFest is on Saturday. They have several musical acts and feature locals The Oranges Band, Two If By Sea and Squaaks. Information on many more bands and several mp3s are available here.

The week ends on Sunday with Gossip at the The Ottobar. Lancaster, PA's Chameleon Club also has Seattle's The Myriad and Long Island's As Tall As Lions. For those who really like festivals, there is yet another one on Sunday. The Abell Community Street Fair hits the Charles Village area of Baltimore. They will have live music from 11-6, headlined by The Payola Reserve at 5.
While this week may lack the big names, it makes up for it with quality and options. If I missed anything, let me know and I'll try to correct it.
