Rockin' Out This Week in Austin

The calendar turns to September this weekend, which means only two weeks until the Festival! The big names are getting ready to filter through central Texas. Until then, let's see who will be in the ATX this week.

As Joe said in his post, the dinosaurs are out this week. I am not a huge fan of punk and hardcore bands, but two of the most well known and influential ones are playing together Wednesday at Stubbs: X and The Rollins Band.

On Thursday, Stubbs has San Antonio's Buttercup and the latest Austin buzz band, Oh No! Oh My!. Friday night brings Gil Mantera's Party Dream to Emo's. They are they best thing to come out of Youngstown, OH since Joe. They will be joined by Texas locals The Lord Henry, lalaland and February Chorus. You need to listen to their Fleetwood Mac cover. It is frightening, yet addictive.

The big show of the week is at the Continental Club on Friday. National buzz band Snowden is coming along with local bands The Onlys and For Those Who Know. Additionally, Snowden will be doing an in-store at End of an Ear at 6pm. Hopefully I will see you guys Friday night.

Finally, I want to show you some love. AT&T is sponsoring a free show at Stubbs on September 13 featuring Gnarls Barkley. They are giving away tickets starting Wednesday 8/30. Please check here for more details.
