Austin CIty Limits Festival Preview: Final Words

To all of you going to the Festival, have a good time. I hope to see you there amongst the 60,000 others. To those not going, enjoy the music provided and get you ass down here next year. As an added bonus, coming from an ACL Festival veteran (my fourth year!), I will hand out some Dos and Don'ts.

DO check out everything you can. Go off the beaten path. Pick someone on the schedule you have never heard of and go listen. Get some religion on Sunday morning at the WaMu stage (that's the pavilion next to the food). Buy a cowboy hat at the market place. Get an autograph from an artist at the Waterloo tent.

DO drink plenty of water. It gets damn hot in Texas, even in September. You out-of-towners not from the South, heed this advice. The festival is no fun from the medical tent.

DO eat some of the best food in Austin at the food booths. Local places abound this year.

DO bring an umbrella, rain or shine. It keeps you dry, but can also keep you shaded.

DO wear sunscreen. The sun is nasty. Three days with a sunburn can be no fun.

DON'T be an idiot. Respect those around you. Austin is a laid back town. Keep it that way.

DO have fun. Come away from this as the best musical experience of your life.

DO check out the rest of our site and our archives for a ton of ACL Fest coverage and so much more!
